Sunderland Theatre Company welcomes individuals from all different walks of life and levels of experience to join our company. We have members from 15 years old up to over 90 years old! We take on performing and non-performing members – there are so many different parts to putting a show together (tech engineers, stage hands, stage manager, make-up & hair, front of house, costuming, and MORE!).

Members must be 14+ years old
No experience required
You may be required to complete an introductory audition

Rehearsals:
We rehearse at least once a week, with there being at least 2 rehearsals per week on the lead up to our show week
(This can be increased based on role and necessity)
Rehearsal schedules are created for our shows based on availability forms that members are required to complete prior to rehearsals
We take great pride in our productions and note that although we are amateur (only in name!) our productions take dedication and commitment from all members, and we expect a minimal attendance percentage for our shows.
Rehearsals are held at Deptford & Millfield Community Centre, Sunderland
Timings for rehearsals are:
Weekdays – 7:30pm-9:30pm
Sundays – 2pm – 5:30pm

Productions:
When we begin the process of starting a new production, we will host an introductory evening where all members are invited along to find out more about the show and what it entails. We discuss and showcase music from the show as well as storylines and characters.
Before this, members will be sent an information pack that includes everything that they will need to know about the show, the production team, the audition pieces, and more!
We will have a dedicated evening to work through audition pieces (lib & music) in preparation for audition day.
Principal and ensemble auditions are held on the same day and there will be scheduled timings for certain characters.
Auditions are usually made of short sections of lib, certain bars from a song in the show, and dancing where required.

Fees:

We have both annual and weekly subs
Annual subs need to be paid before a show audition can take place
All weekly subs need to be up-to-date before a show week for all members
